About the Department
Management Information Systems is a four-year undergraduate programme. Its aim is to train and bring into professional life people who can combine fields such as information management, technology and systems; who can produce, update, distribute and use information; and who can bring together and present information from different locations to help people in managerial positions make faster and more accurate decisions.
The Department of Business Information Management, which runs the programme, was opened in the 2005-2006 academic year at the Erdemli School of Applied Technology and Management and went into operation by registering students. The department offers compulsory courses in business, communication and computer sciences, as well as elective courses; in this way it produces graduates who can define and solve information problems within the interdisciplinary structure of business.
The department's academic staff consists of 1 professor, 1 associate professor, 4 assistant professors, 1 lecturer and 1 instructor. Courses are carried out in the classrooms of the Erdemli School of Applied Technology and Management, while computer courses are held in the school's computer laboratories. Students also benefit from the social and cultural facilities on campus.
Students who successfully complete their courses receive the Management Information Systems undergraduate diploma. Provided that they obtain the required score in the public personnel selection examination (KPSS), graduates can be appointed to posts similar to those of Business graduates of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences; they can also work in the private sector as management information systems specialists, manager assistants or managers, or establish their own businesses as entrepreneurs.
Career Opportunities
Provided that they obtain the required score in the public personnel selection examination (KPSS), graduates can be appointed to public posts similar to those of Business graduates of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. In the private sector, they can work as management information systems specialists, manager assistants or managers in companies' information technology departments, in public and private banks, and in software and automation companies; they can also become entrepreneurs. An academic career through graduate education is also possible.
