About the Department

Mersin University Faculty of Communication was established by the Council of Ministers Decree dated 02/05/2001 and numbered 2001/2553, and admitted its first students in 2004. A preparatory class was applied for the first three years. After the preparatory year, education was conducted in Turkish. The preparatory class was abolished by a Senate decision in 2008. The language of instruction is Turkish. The aim of the Radio, Television and Cinema program is to train communicators who master the approaches related to the field of communication, comprehend the realities of the country and the world, possess the knowledge, skills and equipment to meet the requirements of the sector, can specialize at many different levels in radio, television and cinema, and are committed to professional ethics. Our department has an experienced academic staff and rich technical infrastructure. Our department offers practical facilities where students can put their theoretical and technical knowledge into practice, with a fully equipped television studio, Mersin University Radio broadcasting to Mersin province both terrestrially and over the internet since 2005, a Radio News Center, a MIDI studio, editing units, a computer laboratory and a 3D hall.
