About the Department

About Us / History: Starting to admit students within the Turkish and Social Sciences Education Department of our Faculty of Education from the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year by decision of the Higher Education Executive Board, our department strives to be a pioneering unit in training the social studies teachers and social studies education specialists that Turkey needs in the 21st century. Introduction: Students are admitted to our department according to the ÖSYM LYS TS-1 score. Daytime (first) education is provided, with a student quota of 40. Our graduates are employed in public and private educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Our department also admits students to thesis and non-thesis master's programs within the university's Institute of Educational Sciences, and the necessary correspondence has been carried out to open a doctoral program in Social Studies Education. Our students are offered ERASMUS and FARABİ exchange opportunities. The department aims to train educators who are competent in their field, think critically, are creative, have problem-solving skills, use information technologies, and have a strong pedagogical understanding.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can work as teachers in public and private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, and in private education institutions. An academic career path through graduate education is also available.
