About the Department

In the 1996-1997 academic year, our department, who participated in the education process of our Faculty by accepting students to the undergraduate program, has an academic staff consisting of 5 Professors, 6 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors, 2 Research Assistants and scientific activities at master's and doctoral levels.

Our students who graduate from the undergraduate program of our department can work as teachers if they take the relevant pedagogical formation courses, and can also find jobs as researchers in archives and museums. In addition, as a history researcher, they can work in organizations related to his own fields, in newspapers and independently deal with authorship. Besides, they can benefit from the opportunities that university graduates benefit from.

Our department has created its program in line with contemporary approaches in historiography and continues to update it in the light of developments. Based on the fact of the diversity of historical actors and the necessity of a long-term perspective, reaching accurate information about local, national and universal history with an open approach to all disciplines of social sciences constitutes the basis of the mission understanding. In this context, it is our vision of socio-economic historiography that takes into account group interests and ecology (space, environment), instead of seeing only individuals and, for example, great people as historical actors. Our main priority is to present them to the knowledge and benefit of the society we live in, in the light of scientific facts.

Self-confident, able to express himself correctly, analyze and synthesize, exhibit democratic attitudes and behaviors, have national and social sensitivity, can use a source language (Ottoman), have no ideological obsessions, know his skills and limits, the basic vision and mission of our department is to educate graduates who can establish the universal balance.
