About the Department
The Department of Recreation at the Faculty of Sport Sciences trains qualified specialists in the field of recreation, in parallel with the increasing awareness of leisure time and quality of life in today's society. The program offers theoretical and practical education across a wide spectrum including sport recreation, outdoor and adventure sports, event planning and management, tourism recreation, therapeutic recreation, and community recreation. Students learn to design, organize, and evaluate recreational activities for different age and interest groups. Mersin's natural and geographical advantages (coastline, mountainous areas, historical regions) serve as a natural laboratory for practical education. Mandatory internship, Erasmus program, double major, and minor opportunities support students' professional development.
