About the Department

The Department of Plant and Animal Production of our school was opened in the 2013-2014 academic year. The department has two classrooms and a computer laboratory. Courses in the Crop and Animal Production Department Curriculum are conducted by Two Lecturers. It has a total of 50 students in the 2023-2024 academic year. Sapling Breeding Program:

Türkiye is an important vineyard and garden country due to its geographical location and ecological conditions. Due to the increase in import opportunities in recent years, modern fruit and vineyard plantations for commercial purposes are becoming widespread, thus the need for healthy and high-quality fruit and vine saplings is gradually increasing. Again, in line with our country's policies, certified sapling production is also made mandatory. And this; It requires healthy planning and training of qualified technical intermediate staff in the production and distribution of quality and certified saplings. The purpose of this program is; In addition to meeting the need for intermediate technical personnel equipped with today's knowledge and experience needed in the public and private sectors in the production of all kinds of saplings such as fruit, vine and ornamental plant saplings, it also trains personnel who can establish and run a business. For this purpose, students receive theoretical and practical training.

Job Opportunities for Graduates of the Sapling Breeding Program:

Students graduating from the Department of Arboriculture; He can work as a "Forest Conservation Officer" in organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, provincial and district directorates, and central and provincial organizations affiliated with the General Directorate of Forestry. They also find employment opportunities in private companies that produce saplings and fruits, or they can establish their own businesses and produce saplings.

In recent years, developments have been made in the nursery sector in the face of developing world agriculture, and the production of saplings with dwarf and semi-dwarf clone rootstocks has become widespread, especially in some fruit species, and the private sector has made great progress in this regard. In newly established orchards and vineyards; The use of dwarf rootstocks, dense planting (a large number of saplings per unit area), new irrigation and fertilization, and different training and pruning methods are applied, and the species and varieties preferred by the domestic and foreign markets are grown. These developments in modern fruit cultivation have created new employment opportunities in the production of saplings and their storage and marketing.

Professional Progress:

Entry and attendance conditions for undergraduate programs for college graduates are made in accordance with the provisions of the "Regulation on the Continuation of Undergraduate Education for Vocational School Graduates". Students who will graduate from this program will receive the title of "Agricultural Engineer" after graduating by making a vertical transfer to the Horticulture and Field Crops departments of the Faculty of Agriculture through the "Vertical Transfer Exam" organized by ÖSYM, and the title of "Forest Engineer" by making a vertical transfer to the Forest Engineering and Forest Industrial Engineering departments of the Forestry Faculties. ” or will have the right to obtain the title of “Forest Industrial Engineer”.
