About the Department
The Local Administration Program is a 2-year associate programme offered within the Department of Management and Organization. The main objective of the department is to educate and train students in business and management in connection with companies, public institutions, universities, non-governmental organizations and other similar entities.
The specific aim of the programme is to train the qualified intermediate workforce needed by municipalities, special provincial administrations and other local government units. Students gain theoretical and applied knowledge in areas such as the functioning of local governments, relevant legislation, public administration, municipal services, public finance, and office and management organization.
The programme's lesson plans are arranged over four semesters in a way that meets professional qualification criteria. Taking into account the demands and needs of internal and external stakeholders, the lesson plans are updated in line with the requirements of the day. In this way, graduates are expected to take on effective roles in the local government and public sector.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the programme can work as intermediate staff in municipalities, special provincial administrations, headmen's (muhtar) offices, district governorships and other local government units, as well as in public institutions. They can also work in management, office and administrative support positions in the private sector. Graduates can also transfer to related undergraduate programmes such as Political Science and Public Administration or Public Administration through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
