About the Department
Our program was established within Mersin University's School of Health Services in the 2003-2004 academic year and began accepting students the same year. Our mission is to train responsible and competent healthcare professionals who can effectively use modern imaging devices and health information systems, apply imaging methods according to scientific and ethical standards, and are committed to patient privacy and professional ethics, all with the aim of increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare services.
The program aims to train technical personnel equipped to effectively operate and use the equipment used in radiology units, prepare patients for radiologic examinations requested by physicians, and properly perform the examinations, enabling accurate and effective decisions to be made during the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Graduates of the program are awarded the title of "Medical Imaging Technician" and are employed in various imaging centers in public and private hospitals. Our main objectives are:
- To provide the knowledge and skills to obtain the images necessary for disease diagnosis and treatment by using radiological imaging devices accurately, reliably, and effectively.
Career Opportunities
Graduates can work as health technicians in public and private hospitals, oral and dental health centres, medical laboratories, imaging centres and related health institutions. They can transfer to related undergraduate programmes through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
