About the Department
Computer Programming — Brief History: Computer Programming was opened within the vocational school in the 1996-1997 academic year under the Department of Technical Programs, and the first student enrollment was made in the same period. The name of the program was later changed to its current form. Evening education began in 1998. This program, with a quota of 55 students, has three full-time instructors. The program uses a 20-computer i5 PC laboratory together with the other programs of our vocational school. Purpose of Establishment: In recent years, in parallel with the rapid developments in the IT sector, the use of computer technology in business and daily life has increased rapidly. Computer technology and programming covers the areas of computer use, software development (for PC, network environments and the internet), hardware, maintenance and repair, and the installation and management of computer networks. Students who graduate as computer technicians are trained to specialize both theoretically and practically.
Career Opportunities
Graduates can work as technicians in software and IT companies, in the information technology units of public and private organizations, and in web/application development, technical support and system-network services. They can transfer to related undergraduate programmes through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
