About the Department

Construction Technology — Establishment Information: It was established in 1988 under the Department of Technical Programs of Mersin Vocational School within the scope of the YÖK/World Bank Industrial Education Project, and began admitting students. It currently continues to admit students within the Construction Department of the Vocational School of Technical Sciences. Degree Earned: Construction Technician. Level of Degree: Associate Degree. Admission and Registration Requirements: a high school or equivalent diploma and a sufficient score in the Undergraduate Placement Examination (LYS). Recognition of Prior Learning: The recognition of prior learning in Turkish higher education institutions is still at an early stage, and for this reason it has not been fully implemented in all programs of Mersin University. However, an exemption exam is held at the beginning of each semester for courses such as English in the compulsory curricula; students who pass are exempted from the relevant courses. Qualification Conditions: To earn the title of Construction Technician, students must pass all courses in the curriculum with at least a DD grade, achieve a weighted average of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, and complete a 40-working-day compulsory internship.
