About the Department
The programs of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology and Electricity were established in 1988 under Çukurova University, Mersin Vocational School (Meslek Yüksekokulu). Subsequently, they continued their educational activities under: Mersin University, Mersin Vocational School in 1992, and Mersin University, Technical Sciences Vocational School in 2006. In 2009, with the restructuring based on the ISCED 97 system, the programs were merged under the name of the Department of Electrical and Energy.
The Department of Electrical and Energy currently continues its formal education with the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Program and the Electricity Program. The main objective and mission of the Department of Electrical and Energy is to train qualified technical staff, or technicians, who can utilize their knowledge and skills in the fields of electricity and energy, taking into account the current needs of the sector.
Our department contributes to the development of our students with 2 laboratories for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology and 3 laboratories for the Electricity program.
Career Opportunities
Graduates can work as technicians in public institutions and the private sector. They may continue to bachelor's programs through DGS.
