About the Department
The Transportation and Traffic Services Program was established within the Vocational School of Technical Sciences in the 2008-2009 academic year. The programme, which graduated its first students in 2010, offers formal education.
The increasing number of motor vehicles and drivers, rapid population growth, irregular urbanization and the inability to keep up with technological advancements increase traffic accidents and make the solution of the traffic safety problem more difficult. Traffic safety can be ensured through the complete and continuous provision of infrastructure services as well as the widespread dissemination of traffic education. This programme aims to make a significant contribution to training the human resources needed in the field of road transportation and traffic, a field for which a significant shortage is constantly felt in our country.
The objective of the programme is to train professionals who possess sufficient knowledge and skills in road transportation and traffic safety and who can put these skills into practice. Students gain competence in fundamental and current professional knowledge, occupational health and safety, environmental awareness and quality processes; they effectively use information technologies related to their profession and, with an analytical and critical approach, evaluate problems and develop solution proposals.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the programme can work as professionals in the field of road transportation and traffic. Municipalities, the General Directorate of Highways and other traffic-related public institutions, transportation and logistics companies, highway and terminal operations, driving schools and private sector organizations are among the main areas of employment. Graduates can also transfer to related undergraduate programmes through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
