** Students who have taken all required courses according to their program's curriculum, met attendance requirements, and fulfilled all other program obligations—including practical components like internships—thereby needing to pass only one remaining course to graduate, are eligible to take the single course exam.
The principles regarding the single course exam, as outlined in the Mersin University Associate and Undergraduate Education, Training, and Examination Regulation, are as follows:
(5) (Amended: Official Gazette - 06/02/2024 - 32452) The principles regarding the single course exam are as follows:
a) The single course exam is administered at the end of the fall semester, the spring semester, or the summer session (if a summer session is offered at the University).
b) A student who has taken all required courses in their program's curriculum, met attendance requirements, and fulfilled all other program obligations—including practical components like internships—thereby needing to pass only one remaining course to graduate, may take the single course exam for that failed course on the dates specified in the academic calendar. c) A student who has passed all their courses but does not possess the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 60.00 required for graduation may take a single-course exam for any of the courses previously taken, provided it falls within the dates specified in the academic calendar. However, this exam right is not granted to a student who cannot raise their CGPA to 60.00 with the grade they would receive from the single-course exam.
ç) The authority to decide whether to grant the right to a single-course exam for applied courses rests with the administrative board of the relevant unit.
d) After becoming eligible to take a single-course exam, the student may apply in writing to the relevant sub-unit prior to the start date of the single-course exam specified in the academic calendar. The student's status is reviewed by the sub-unit, and if the eligibility criteria for taking the exam are met, the student is granted the right to take the single-course exam by a decision of the unit's administrative board. The single-course exam schedule is determined and announced by the sub-unit.
e) A student who obtains a grade of at least 60.00 in the single-course exam is considered successful. The grade obtained in the single-course exam is reflected in the CGPA but is not taken into account when calculating the semester grade point average for the semester in which the student originally took the course and failed.
f) A student who exercises the right to a single-course exam but fails, or who does not take the single-course exam, must register for the course in question during the first fall or spring semester it is offered. If the student takes the midterm and final exams for this course—without being subject to attendance requirements—and fulfills the course requirements but still fails, they may exercise the right to a single-course exam again.
