An Important Publication for Mersin's Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism Potential.

The book "Cultural Heritage Values of Mersin in the Context of Sustainable Tourism," edited by Prof. Dr. Meryem Samırkaş KOMŞU, Director of the Mersin University Tourism Application and Research Center (TURAM), has been published.
Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, the work emphasizes the importance of developing effective social policies in the process extending from the preservation of cultural heritage to the philosophy of development. The book defines the cultural heritage elements of Turkey at the macro level and Mersin at the micro level, offering a new socio-economic and socio-cultural development model for the region.
"Intangible Cultural Heritage" Takes Center Stage;
The most original aspect of the work, authored by Dr. Ufuk Cem KOMŞU (Mersin University), Dr. Fatma EBAN (Van Yüzüncü Yıl University), and Research Specialist Meryem Ezgi SAKAR (Tourism Application and Research Center), is its strong emphasis on the often neglected concept of "intangible cultural heritage."
This valuable study, which meticulously describes the "living cultural heritage" profile in Türkiye and Mersin, aims to make a significant contribution to the socio-economic and socio-cultural development of a cosmopolitan city like Mersin.
