Candle-Making Workshop Held with Our Alumna Sevda Erdoğan

A candle-making workshop organized by the Department of Chemistry at Mersin University’s Faculty of Science was held in the Department of Chemistry Student Laboratory on April 20, 2026, with the participation of Sevda Erdoğan, one of our department’s alumni.

During the workshop, our students learned about the basic materials used in candle making, the stages of production, and the design process. Through hands-on activities, participants had the opportunity to make their own candles and create personalized designs using the techniques they learned.

Bringing together chemistry, production, design, and creativity, the workshop enabled our students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice and enjoy an engaging learning experience. The event also allowed our students to benefit from the experience of an entrepreneur who graduated from our department and contributed to strengthening communication between our students and alumni.

We would like to thank our alumna Sevda Erdoğan for sharing her valuable knowledge and experience with our students, as well as all the students who participated in the workshop.
