Effective Communication" Training for Provincial Directorate of Trade Personnel from MEÜSEM

An in-service training session was organized for the staff of the Mersin Provincial Directorate of Trade within the scope of the institutional cooperation protocol signed between our center and the Directorate.
The training, held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, between 13:00 and 15:00 at the MEÜSEM classrooms, was conducted by Research Assistant Dr. İbrahim Çataldaş from the Department of Public Relations and Advertising at Mersin University's Faculty of Communication. The program covered topics such as effective communication, empathy, active listening, body language, conflict and stress management, and communicating with difficult citizens; it also addressed strategic communication models designed to enhance citizen satisfaction in public services.
During the training, Research Assistant Dr. İbrahim Çataldaş demonstrated—through practical examples—empathy-based de-escalation techniques and the proper use of body language, enabling staff to manage crisis moments during challenging and stressful interactions with citizens. Guidance was provided on establishing professional boundaries when dealing with angry, insistent, or anxious citizens, and ready-to-use dialogue scenarios were shared to help resolve conflicts before they escalated.
The training, which saw high participation from the Provincial Directorate of Trade staff, focused on key elements such as controlling one's tone of voice during moments of stress and anger, avoiding a defensive stance, and improving listening skills.
