Research and Development Wind at Mersin University: 3 Important Projects from the Department of Electrical and Energy

Mersin University Çiftlikköy Campus hosted a significant event bringing together the world of science and technology. The “R&D Project Market 2026,” organized by the Mersin Technology Transfer Office (TTO), took place on May 5-6 at the Prof. Dr. Uğur Oral Culture Center. Aimed at strengthening university-industry collaboration, the Electrical Program of the Electrical and Energy Department at the Vocational School of Technical Sciences participated with three different projects addressing current technological needs. The projects, which attracted significant interest from industry representatives and academics visiting the stand, were exhibited as follows:

AC-Based Leakage Current Line and Approximate Location Detection System: This system, offering an innovative solution for electrical safety and fault detection, drew attention with its technical infrastructure.

Low-Cost Industrial PLC with Raspberry Pi: This project, aiming to minimize costs in industrial automation processes, received praise for its use of accessible technology.

AI-Supported Smart Greenhouse Automation: This project, combining agricultural technologies with artificial intelligence, presented a digital vision for sustainable and efficient production models.

This process, in which students transformed their theoretical knowledge into concrete projects, was of great value in terms of developing professional skills and gaining sectoral awareness. Participants emphasized that the projects were not merely academic studies but also possessed commercial and technical potential that could be integrated into industry.

At the end of the event, thanks were extended to the stakeholders who contributed to the development of the projects, and the contribution of such organizations to the regional economy and technological development was highlighted.
