UNESCO World Second Place for Our Journalism Master's Student Alina Mamatova

Alina Mamatova, a master's student in the Department of Journalism at the Mersin University Faculty of Communication, achieved significant success in the 8th edition of the "Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads" International Photo Contest organized by UNESCO.
In the competition held under the theme "Living Heritage along the Silk Roads," Alina Mamatova—who conducts her academic studies under the advisorship of Department of Journalism faculty member Prof. Dr. Ceren Yegen—was awarded second place worldwide in the 18–25 age category with her photograph titled "Kyz Kuumai." The photograph by Mamatova, a native of Kyrgyzstan, depicts the traditional Kyrgyz equestrian game "Kyz Kuumai."
With over 7,000 photographs submitted from 100 countries, the entries were evaluated by an international jury based on originality, distinction, and visual impact. Awards and honorable mentions were presented across two age categories: 14–17 and 18–25.
As the Mersin University Faculty of Communication, we congratulate our student Alina Mamatova on this prestigious international achievement and wish her continued success.
