Bölüm Hakkında

Mersin University, Faculty of Fine Arts, was established in accordance with Law No. 3837 dated 03 July 1992. The Department of Graphic Design, one of the 10 departments included in the founding law, began its educational activities in the 1994-1995 Academic Year with a student quota of 20.

Mission

The mission of Mersin University Department of Graphic Arts is to cultivate individuals who can think creatively in the field of Graphic Design, who have developed creative problem-solving skills, who follow technological innovations, and who can reflect contemporary art understanding into design processes. The department aims to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, primarily producing qualified, respectful, cultured individuals and secondarily distinguished Graphic Designers; while also contributing to raising the country above the level of contemporary civilizations by producing projects that contribute to Turkish society, culture, and artistic values.

Vision

As its vision, the department embraces becoming a respected, innovative, and productive Graphic Design education center at national and international levels. An academic structure is envisioned that adapts to the transformations in creative industries and can produce pioneering work in visual communication technologies, digital media, and art-based research. In this direction, the foundation of the vision is to ensure that students are equipped with qualifications that will provide them with recognition and prestige on a global scale, and that the academic staff specializes in their fields and establishes international collaborations.

Values

The values that the department embodies, advocates, and strives to convey to students can be summarized as commitment to Ataturk's principles and reforms, justice, diligence, productivity, rationality, originality, creativity, utility and function-oriented thinking, research-mindedness, love of knowledge and lifelong learning, national and international impact in the field, and respect in all areas of life.
