About the Department
The Department of Internal Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine provides clinical education, research, and patient care services in internal medicine and its related subspecialties. The department encompasses divisions including internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, hematology, nephrology, rheumatology, pulmonology, infectious diseases, dermatology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, psychiatry, and family medicine. Medical students learn basic medical sciences during the first three years, then receive practical clinical training in internal medical sciences through clinical clerkships in years 4 and 5. During year 6 (internship), they actively participate in patient follow-up and treatment in clinical settings. International clinical experience is also available through the Erasmus exchange program.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Faculty of Medicine can begin working as general practitioners or specialize in one of the internal medical sciences subspecialties through the Medical Specialty Examination (TUS). Broad employment opportunities exist in academic careers, as well as the public and private sectors.
