Our Department and Program,  according to the YÖK Decision No. 018984, dated May 2, 2012, in the 2012-2013 academic year,  began education with a quota of 100 students within our Vocational School.

The purpose of our department and program is to train qualified human resources who possess fundamental knowledge in the forestry sector, act in compliance with relevant legislation, take responsibility as team members in solving problems, are equipped in technical subjects, and can use their acquired knowledge and skills in the sustainable management, ecological, economic, and social conservation and operation of forest resources.

Qualified human resources are needed for the protection of forests and the conduct of forestry activities in our forests, which cover a large area of our country. The field of employment is broad, and Forestry and Forest Products activities are an indispensable requirement in the global market. For our country to take its place in the global arena and for the practices related to this subject to be carried out through professionals and trained vocational staff, success and permanence must be ensured. Therefore, the employment of qualified core personnel is of great importance for our country's forestry.

Students are selected for our Forestry and Forest Products program from vocational high schools and general high schools through the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).  Our program is a 4-semester associate degree higher education program aiming to train qualified personnel. It is conducted through the distance education model. Distance education is today being effectively and extensively applied abroad. Türkiye’de de eğitimin kitlelere yayılması ve daha geniş kitleler tarafından alınması, büyük önem taşımaktadır. In this respect, it is even more significant that a program with a wide target audience such as the Forestry and Forest Products Program has been established in the distance education model.

Ormancılık ve Orman Ürünleri Programı’ndan mezun olan öğrenciler; Tarım ve Orman Bakanlığı'na bağlı merkez ve taşra teşkilatları ile Devlet Su İşleri Genel Müdürlüğü, Karayolları Genel Müdürlüğü, Devlet Planlama Teşkilatı gibi kurumlarda teknik ve idari görevler yaparlar. They can also work as technical staff in private organizations and private forest nurseries that carry out forestry-related tasks in the private sector.

Graduates of the program receive the titles of Forest Technician and Forest Protection Officer.
