About the Department
The Anesthesia Program, established in the 2003-2004 academic year and accepted students in the same year, affiliated with Mersin University's School of Health Services, offers associate degree programs. The program, taught in Turkish, grants graduates the title of "Anesthesiologist."
Anesthesia technicians are healthcare professionals who collaborate with Anesthesiology and Reanimation specialists during surgery and possess the skills to safely initiate, maintain, and terminate anesthesia procedures. Their primary responsibilities include preparing the patient for surgery, monitoring vital signs, ensuring airway security, administering anesthesia medications, and performing vital procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Graduates of the program have a wide range of employment opportunities in the operating rooms and intensive care units of state and university hospitals, as well as private healthcare institutions.
Our mission is to train individuals who are attentive, conscientious, proficient in current anesthesia techniques, prioritize human life, and open to professional development, capable of contributing effectively to anesthesia processes before, during, and after surgery.
Career Opportunities
Graduates can work as health technicians in public and private hospitals, oral and dental health centres, medical laboratories, imaging centres and related health institutions. They can transfer to related undergraduate programmes through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
