Anesthesiology
The Anesthesia Program, established in the 2003-2004 academic year and accepted students in the same year, affiliated with Mersin University's School of Health Services, offers associate degree programs. The program, taught in Turkish, grants graduates the title of "Anesthesiologist."
Anesthesia technicians are healthcare professionals who collaborate with Anesthesiology and Reanimation specialists during surgery and possess the skills to safely initiate, maintain, and terminate anesthesia procedures. Their primary responsibilities include preparing the patient for surgery, monitoring vital signs, ensuring airway security, administering anesthesia medications, and performing vital procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Graduates of the program have a wide range of employment opportunities in the operating rooms and intensive care units of state and university hospitals, as well as private healthcare institutions.
Our mission is to train individuals who are attentive, conscientious, proficient in current anesthesia techniques, prioritize human life, and open to professional development, capable of contributing effectively to anesthesia processes before, during, and after surgery. Our vision is to be a leading program that trains anesthesia technicians who are committed to lifelong learning, constantly renew themselves, are team-oriented, utilize information and educational technologies effectively, and possess a high level of knowledge and skills, and are preferred nationally and internationally.
Our Goals and Objectives are for students to:
· Learn the conditions for general and regional anesthesia administration,
· Be familiar with the operating room, intensive care, and resuscitation environments,
· Ensure patient hemodynamic stabilization and airway security in emergency and elective surgeries,
· Effectively monitor vital functions and depth of anesthesia,
· Acquire the skills to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on adults, children, and neonates,
· Identify and manage postoperative complications,
· Master the processes for safely terminating anesthesia.
Our program: To strengthen the quality of education and develop students' practical skills, the university collaborates with reputable healthcare institutions such as Mersin University Hospital, Mersin Toros State Hospital, and Mersin City Training and Research Hospital.
