About the Department
The First and Emergency Aid Program, part of Mersin University's School of Health Services, is a two-year associate degree program that aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to ensure rapid, accurate, and effective response in emergencies. Students learn both theoretical and practical aspects of basic life support, trauma and disaster management, medication administration, and patient transport techniques. Graduates who successfully complete the program can work as "First and Emergency Aid Technicians (Paramedics)" at 112 Emergency Health Services stations, hospital emergency rooms, and private healthcare institutions.
Our mission is to train healthcare professionals (paramedics) who are capable of rapid, scientifically based, and effective interventions in emergencies, who adhere to professional ethical values, have a high sense of responsibility, and are competent in their field, with the aim of protecting and improving public health. Our vision is to cultivate graduates who are leaders and role models in emergency healthcare services as a respected national and international program that closely follows scientific developments, embraces innovative educational methods, and pioneers in research and practice.
Career Opportunities
Graduates can work as technicians/professionals in public institutions and the private sector related to their field. They can transfer to related undergraduate programmes through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
