First Aid and Emergency

The First and Emergency Aid Program, part of Mersin University's School of Health Services, is a two-year associate degree program that aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to ensure rapid, accurate, and effective response in emergencies. Students learn both theoretical and practical aspects of basic life support, trauma and disaster management, medication administration, and patient transport techniques. Graduates who successfully complete the program can work as "First and Emergency Aid Technicians (Paramedics)" at 112 Emergency Health Services stations, hospital emergency rooms, and private healthcare institutions.

Our mission is to train healthcare professionals (paramedics) who are capable of rapid, scientifically based, and effective interventions in emergencies, who adhere to professional ethical values, have a high sense of responsibility, and are competent in their field, with the aim of protecting and improving public health. Our vision is to cultivate graduates who are leaders and role models in emergency healthcare services as a respected national and international program that closely follows scientific developments, embraces innovative educational methods, and pioneers in research and practice.

The aim of the program is to train qualified paramedics by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to protect the lives of individuals and ensure the continuity of healthcare services in emergencies. Our goals are as follows:

-To train healthcare professionals equipped with professional knowledge and skills who can make rapid and effective decisions in emergency healthcare services.

-To provide competence in basic life support, trauma and disaster management, medication administration, and patient transport.

-To train graduates who are able to keep up with scientific and technological developments and are open to continuous learning.

-To cultivate individuals who are committed to professional ethical values, adaptable to teamwork, and have a high sense of responsibility.

-To train paramedics equipped to serve in the national healthcare system and on international platforms.

Our external stakeholders are Mersin University Faculty of Medicine, Mersin City Training and Research Hospital, and Toros State Hospital, with whom we have collaborated to strengthen the quality of education and practice.
