Program Teaching Aims and Objectives

Program Objective: The ‘First Aid and Emergency Program’ aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to perform necessary first aid and emergency procedures safely using emergency care equipment in public and private healthcare institutions. Graduates work as “Ambulance and Emergency Care Technicians” in these institutions.

Program Goals:

1. To teach students about pre-hospital and hospital emergency care environments and the equipment used in these environments.

2. To equip students with the skills to use basic medical tools and materials used in emergency patient care appropriately and safely.

3. To ensure students gain an awareness of ethical responsibility regarding the security and confidentiality of patient data in emergency healthcare services.

4. To equip students with skills in basic and advanced life support and pre-hospital applications in emergency situations.

5. To help students understand the importance of teamwork in emergency healthcare services.

*In line with Mersin University's 2023-2027 Strategic Goals, and taking into account the opinions of internal and external stakeholders, the aims and objectives of the First and Emergency Aid (IKMEP) Program were updated with the Board of Directors' Decision No. 5/16 dated 26/01/2026.
