About the Department

The Medical Laboratory Techniques Program, part of Mersin University's School of Health Services, is a two-year associate degree program that aims to train qualified health technicians who can work in the laboratories of public and primary healthcare institutions, effectively use modern laboratory equipment, and perform examinations and analyses in accordance with scientific standards. Students who successfully complete the program graduate with the title of "Medical Laboratory Technician (Health Technician)" and an associate degree. Our graduates are employed in the laboratories of public institutions, primarily state and university hospitals, as well as in the laboratory units of private healthcare institutions.

Our mission is to train graduates equipped with globally up-to-date knowledge and skills in medical laboratory techniques, committed to ethical values, and preferred in both the public and private sectors. Our vision is to be a leading program that trains medical laboratory technicians who are recognized nationally and internationally and sought after in the healthcare sector.

The program aims to be able to work in various laboratory units, including biochemistry, microbiology, hematology, pathology, blood bank, and emergency laboratories.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can work as health technicians in public and private hospitals, oral and dental health centres, medical laboratories, imaging centres and related health institutions. They can transfer to related undergraduate programmes through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
