Medical Laboratory Techniques

The Medical Laboratory Techniques Program, part of Mersin University's School of Health Services, is a two-year associate degree program that aims to train qualified health technicians who can work in the laboratories of public and primary healthcare institutions, effectively use modern laboratory equipment, and perform examinations and analyses in accordance with scientific standards. Students who successfully complete the program graduate with the title of "Medical Laboratory Technician (Health Technician)" and an associate degree. Our graduates are employed in the laboratories of public institutions, primarily state and university hospitals, as well as in the laboratory units of private healthcare institutions.

Our mission is to train graduates equipped with globally up-to-date knowledge and skills in medical laboratory techniques, committed to ethical values, and preferred in both the public and private sectors. Our vision is to be a leading program that trains medical laboratory technicians who are recognized nationally and internationally and sought after in the healthcare sector.

The program aims to be able to work in various laboratory units, including biochemistry, microbiology, hematology, pathology, blood bank, and emergency laboratories. Our goal is to train technical personnel who can perform diagnostic analyses on biological materials in accordance with quality control standards and manage the results reporting processes. Our goals:

- To equip students with the skills to effectively use laboratory equipment.

- To provide professional competence in biochemistry, microbiology, hematology, pathology, blood banking, and emergency laboratory practices.

- To train graduates who can perform analysis and reporting processes in accordance with scientific and ethical principles.

- To train well-equipped medical laboratory technicians who will improve the quality of healthcare services in the public and private sectors.

Theoretical courses in the program are held in the classrooms of the Vocational School of Health Services, while practical courses are held in the modern laboratories of the school. Second-year students complete rotational internships in the relevant laboratories of Mersin University Hospital, Mersin City Training and Research Hospital, and Toros State Hospital under protocols that are renewed annually. Students also benefit from the social, cultural, and athletic opportunities offered on campus.
