Program Teaching Aims and Objectives

Program Objective: The Medical Laboratory Techniques Program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to perform necessary tests using medical laboratory equipment in public and private healthcare institutions. Graduates work as "Medical Laboratory Technicians" in these institutions.

Program Goals:

1. To teach students basic laboratory practices, medical laboratory equipment, and techniques.

2. To equip students with the skills to use medical equipment correctly and reliably in the relevant laboratory.

3. To instill in students an understanding of the importance of adhering to ethical principles regarding patient data security and the confidentiality of laboratory results.

4. To teach students professional standards, quality control processes, and occupational health and safety rules in the laboratory.

*In line with Mersin University's 2023-2027 Strategic Goals, and taking into account the opinions of internal and external stakeholders, the aims and objectives of the Medical Laboratory Techniques (IKMEP) Program were updated with the Board of Directors' Decision No. 5/16 dated 26/01/2026.
