About the Department

Establishment Information: The Automotive Technology Program is part of the Mersin University Vocational School of Technical Sciences; it was opened in 2003 and began evening education by admitting students in the 2003-2004 academic year. With the formal (daytime) education opened in the 2006-2007 academic year, both formal and evening education were carried out; today only formal education is provided. Since 2010, it has continued education under the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies. Degree Earned: Automotive Technician. Level of Degree: Associate Degree. Admission and Registration Requirements: having a high school diploma and passing the program through ÖSYM's YKS exam. Recognition of Prior Learning: An exemption exam is held at the beginning of the semester for Foreign Language courses; students who pass are exempted. In addition, newly enrolled students may be exempted from courses they have previously taken and passed, within the conditions of the relevant Mersin University regulations. Qualification Conditions: students must pass all courses in the curriculum (a total of 120 ECTS), achieve a weighted average of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, and complete a 20-day compulsory internship.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can work as technicians in public institutions and private sector organizations operating in the relevant field, in production, maintenance and repair, assembly, quality and technical service units, and can also start their own businesses. They can transfer to related undergraduate programmes through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
