Endodontics

Overview

The Department of Endodontics is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the dental pulp (nerve and vascular tissue) and root canal system. By integrating education, research, and clinical practice, the department aims to train competent dentists and specialists who combine scientific knowledge with ethical and patient-centered care. Utilizing the latest technologies and evidence-based techniques, we strive to preserve dental health, prevent tooth loss, and provide high-quality endodontic services aligned with international standards.

Education

Endodontic education in our faculty begins in the second year of the dental curriculum and includes both theoretical instruction and extensive clinical practice.
Throughout their training, students learn to:

  • Diagnose diseases of the dental pulp and periapical tissues,
  • Perform contemporary endodontic treatments such as root canal therapy and regenerative procedures (revitalization/revascularization),
  • Utilize digital imaging and diagnostic technologies,
  • Manage endodontic emergencies effectively.

For students pursuing academic or clinical careers, the department offers a robust educational infrastructure at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Through direct involvement in diagnosis, treatment planning, and management of endodontic cases, students gain a strong foundation in scientific reasoning, manual dexterity, and professional ethics.

Clinical Services

Our clinic provides a comprehensive range of modern endodontic treatments, performed with advanced devices and a multidisciplinary approach. The main clinical services include:

  • Root canal treatment using innovative obturation systems,
  • Non-surgical root canal retreatments,
  • Apexification and apexogenesis procedures,
  • Management of root resorption and perforation repairs,
  • Treatment of traumatic dental injuries,
  • Vital pulp therapies and regenerative endodontic applications,
  • Minimally invasive and biocompatible treatment protocols,
  • Complex root canal treatments performed under a dental operating microscope.

All procedures are carried out using cutting-edge endodontic instruments and digital technologies to ensure optimal precision, patient comfort, and long-term success.

Academic Staff and Research

The Department of Endodontics is composed of a qualified team of academic specialists engaged in national and international research. The department contributes to the advancement of endodontic science through publications, conferences, and collaborative studies with other dental and medical disciplines. Our academic environment fosters interdisciplinary cooperation, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence in both clinical and experimental endodontics.

Postgraduate Training Program

Our postgraduate (specialization) program offers an advanced endodontic education in accordance with global standards. The curriculum covers complex root canal therapies, regenerative and digital endodontic practices, and the latest developments in biomaterials and clinical techniques. The program aims to educate endodontists who are competent, ethically responsible, research-oriented, and capable of integrating new scientific evidence into clinical decision-making.
