How to Appeal Course Exam Results
The procedure is detailed in Article 33 of the Mersin University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations:
Article 33
A student may submit a petition to their affiliated sub-unit within five working days following the announcement of the relevant course exam results, requesting a re-evaluation of their exam paper. The sub-unit forwards the exam paper to the responsible instructor of the course to check for any material errors, and the result is communicated to the student.
Within five working days of being informed of the review result concerning a material error, the student may request a substantive re-evaluation by submitting a petition to their affiliated sub-unit. A commission consisting of at least three instructors in the relevant field—excluding the responsible instructor—is appointed by the relevant unit’s management board. The commission reviews the exam paper in comparison with the answer key and/or other exam papers and documents. Any grade changes are finalized with the decision of the unit’s management board. The board’s decision regarding grade changes (Amended: Official Gazette-6/2/2024-32452) is communicated to the relevant sub-unit.
If a material error is identified in the grades published in the Student Information System (ÖBS), the course instructor may request a correction through the relevant sub-unit. This request is evaluated by the sub-unit. Any grade changes or corrections, if applicable, are discussed and finalized by the unit’s management board. The board’s decision (Amended: Official Gazette-6/2/2024-32452) is communicated to the relevant sub-unit.
