Vision

Located at the intersection of social diversity and dynamics, building upon Mersin's historical, cultural, and migration-focused richness, to be a sociology department that is recognized at the national and international level; integrates theoretical knowledge with empirical research, pioneers interdisciplinary studies, and produces solutions to social problems.

Mission

To train qualified sociologists at the undergraduate and graduate levels; to conduct scientific research in areas such as social inequality, migration, urbanization, and cultural transformation; to train sociologists who analyze the structure and transformation of social life through scientific methods, possess critical thinking skills, are sensitive to social problems, and can produce solutions; to prepare students for their academic and professional careers by providing them with a solid theoretical foundation and applied research experience; to serve society through scientific research and projects and contribute to the development of social policies; to contribute to social policies by collaborating with public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector at the local and national level.
