Department History

The Department of Chemistry at Mersin University was established in 1992 and launched its undergraduate program in the 1997–1998 academic year, graduating its first cohort in 2000–2001. Since its foundation, the department has continuously improved its infrastructure and educational facilities, and today it stands out with its well-equipped research laboratories.
In addition to the undergraduate program, graduate education was introduced with the Master’s Program in 1996–1997 and the Doctoral Program in 2003–2004, thereby expanding the scope of academic activities. The department consists of five divisions: Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Biochemistry.
Currently, the academic staff of the Department of Chemistry includes 7 professors, 5 associate professors, 1 assistant professor, and 2 PhD research assistants.
