Our Institute's Graduation Ceremony was held on Friday, June 27th, in Hall A of the Prof. Dr. Uğur Oral Cultural Center.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Necmiye Canacankatan, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Dr. Duygu Vefikuluçay Yılmaz, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Prof. Dr. Bahar Taşdelen, Director of the Health Sciences Institute; Prof. Dr. Gülay Altun Uğraş, Director of the Vocational School of Health Services; academic and administrative staff; graduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students; and their families.

The ceremony, held for the master's and doctoral graduates of the last five years, began with a moment of silence and the singing of the Turkish National Anthem. Prof. Dr. Bahar Taşdelen, Director of the Health Sciences Institute, then delivered the opening remarks: "Our Institute has graduated 807 students to date, and 295 in the last five years." Many of our graduates experienced the working world during their student years, some as academics, some working in pharmacies, and some as healthcare professionals. Some of our graduates have also entered the workforce after graduation, taking advantage of international exchange programs. We invited our graduates, our advisors, and their beloved families, who graduated from the last five years to see that we maintain our connection with our graduates, wherever they are, and to leave a lasting memory in their lives. Just as we do today, the Institute of Health Sciences has many great projects in mind for its graduates, and the ORPHEUS label is at the forefront. We plan to complete the ORPHEUS requirements and apply for the label soon. We believe this will propel us and our graduates forward in the European and global arena. I take this opportunity to congratulate the graduates here with us today, their families, and all the advisors who have contributed to their development. I wish them a life filled with health, happiness, and success. He said.

After the graduates were presented with their diplomas by their advisors, the ceremony concluded with a commemorative group photo.



While the Curriculum Committee continues its efforts to raise the standard of doctoral education offered by the Institute of Health Sciences and to ensure that students graduate with the ORPHEUS label, the Director of the Institute of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Bahar Taşdelen, represented Mersin University at the ORPHEUS 2025 conference organized by the University of Zagreb in Dubrovnik on April 10-12, 2025. She met with representatives from 130 universities from across Europe and participated in a workshop on the ORPHEUS label process. (https://www.kif.unizg.hr/conference.orpheus2025).


7- As of January 2025, our Institute will become an ORPHEUS (Organization for PhD training in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the As part of the efforts of the Curriculum Committee to raise the standard of doctoral education in our Institute's programs and ensure that our students graduate with the ORPHEUS label, Prof. Dr. Gül Güner Akdogan, Chair of the ORPHEUS Label Commission and faculty member of the Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Medicine, presented an online seminar titled "ORPHEUS (Organization for PhD training in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System) Good Practices and Consultancy Perspective" on March 7, 2025, at 10:30 AM. The presentation was met with great interest from academics and students working in our Institute's programs. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Prof. Akdogan, who sincerely answered questions at the end of the presentation, for his comprehensive and informative presentation. We continue our label work.




February 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM An online seminar titled "Experimental Animal Models of Acute Lung Injury" was held by our PhD graduate in Pharmacology, Esraa AL JOMAA.


On February 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM, an online seminar titled "Experimental Atherosclerosis Models: In Vivo and In Vitro Methods" was held by our PhD graduate in Pharmacology, Taşkın KALKAN.


At the invitation of our Institute of Health Sciences, a webinar titled "Neurome - National Neuroscience Infrastructure" was held by Prof. Dr. Meltem Bahçelioğlu, Deputy Director of the Neurome - Neuroscience and Neurotechnology Joint Application and Research Center of Excellence, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM.





Research in Health Sciences Opportunities

•At the invitation of our institute, Prof. Dr. Selma ERAT, Director of MEÜ Advanced Technology Education Research and Application Center (MEİTAM), and her team gave a presentation titled "Research Opportunities in Health Sciences" online on Thursday, March 18, 2021, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
MEİTAM faculty members, including Lecturer Dr. Cihan GEÇGEL, Dr. Aynur Gürbüz, Lecturer Dr. Sevda İLDAN Özmen, Lecturer Dr. Tuncay İNCE, Lecturer Dr. Derya YETKİN, Lecturer Burcu DEMİRBAĞ, Lecturer Ezgi Şule KARAGÖZ, Lecturer Seher KURU, and Lecturer Ayşegül ÇETİNKAYA, provided comprehensive information about the laboratories and analyses available at the center to our faculty members and graduate students in their presentations. It was gratifying that some of the instruments were available only at our center in our region, and that our students could utilize these laboratories in their research. Prof. Dr. Selma ERAT also gave examples of MEİTAM's national and international projects and bilateral collaborations with various countries, encouraging our students and faculty to collaborate more with MEİTAM. After two full hours, Prof. Dr. Erat and his team answered questions. Our Institute Director, Prof. Dr. Bahar Taşdelen, conveyed warm messages from all the participants.

Mersin Health Village Feasibility Workshop

The Institute of Health Sciences was among the stakeholders in the "Mersin Health Village Feasibility Workshop," held online by the Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry on October 15, 2020. Our Director, Prof. Dr. Bahar Taşdelen, represented the Institute at the workshop.
