Our Mission

Mersin University Marine Sciences Application and Research Center (DEB?M) operates with the aim of playing an effective role in the protection of marine ecosystems and increasing their resilience against climate change by revealing the biodiversity and functioning of Mediterranean marine ecosystems through advanced scientific methods and multidisciplinary approaches; institutionalizing data production through long-term and high-resolution monitoring systems; and transforming this data into restoration efforts, sustainable resource management, and science-based decision support mechanisms.

Our Vision

DEB?M continues its work towards becoming a leading research center that stands out with its qualified data produced in the fields of marine biodiversity, ecosystem monitoring, and restoration in the Mediterranean basin, its innovative methods and application-oriented solutions, and that is accepted as a regional reference by integrating science, technology, and management processes, holding a guiding position in shaping marine policies.
