History and Establishment
The indoor space located on the Yenişehir Campus—formerly used as the academic staff dining hall—was allocated by the Rectorate on March 20, 2019. Following extensive infrastructure work, this area was transformed into the Marine Life Collection Center, one of our university's flagship projects.
The Marine Life Museum, which previously operated under the Faculty of Fisheries, has continued its activities under the Marine Sciences Application and Research Center since June 18, 2026, following Rectorate approval.
Scientific Activities and Specimen Collection
To shed light on the Eastern Mediterranean marine ecosystem, our specimen collection and diversification activities have been ongoing without interruption since 2022. These efforts in the field of marine biology have significantly advanced the body of academic knowledge regarding the biodiversity of Mersin and its surrounding areas.
Social Contribution and Visitor Information
In addition to academic research, our center aims to promote marine culture and foster public awareness. As part of our goal to strengthen integration with all local stakeholders, the Mersin University Marine Life Museum has been opened to visitors as an educational and cultural hub accessible to the entire city and the regional public.

2️⃣ Museum Visitor Participation Form (To be filled out during the visit at the museum).
3️⃣ Fill out the Explicit Consent Form online.

*Please submit a physically signed (wet-ink signature) copy of the Museum Visit Request Form to the Center for Marine Sciences Research and Application.
