History

A Distance Education Unit was established within Mersin University Mersin Vocational School in 2002, and internet-supported instruction began in the 2002-2003 academic year with the Industrial Electronics (Electronic Technology) program. In 2003, the Computer Technologies and Programming (Computer Programming), Electronic Communication Program (Electronic Communication Technology), and Industrial Automation Program (Control and Automation Technology) programs were also included in the Distance Education Unit and education continued. On October 11, 2006, it was transformed into a new Vocational School under the name Mersin University Mersin Vocational School (Distance Education).

The number of programs was increased to nine with the addition of Business Management and Pharmacy Services Programs in 2009, Healthcare Institutions Management and Medical Promotion and Marketing in 2010, and the Public Relations and Promotion associate degree program in 2011. In the 2012-2013 academic year, Forestry, Cosmetic Technology, and Real Estate and Real Estate Management programs were opened, and in the 2016-2017 academic year, the number of programs reached thirteen with the opening of the Property Protection and Security Department and the Occupational Health and Safety program within it.
