Program Hakkında

Business Management is the art of directing an organization's resources, time, and workforce in an effective, efficient, and profitable manner. Professionals working in this field, in other words business managers, are responsible for ensuring the control and supervision of business operations and establishing coordination among disciplines such as accounting, finance, project management, and marketing. The role of business management in both the establishment process of a new venture (entrepreneurship) and the development of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit within an already operating business (intrapreneurship) constitutes the foundation of this discipline.

The program, which began admitting students under the name "Business Program" within the "Management and Organization Department" in the 2003?2004 academic year, continued admitting students as the "Business Management Program" in 2010. The program integrates theoretical knowledge acquisition based on concrete principles with experiential learning activities such as workshop studies, case analyses, and internships, grounded in entrepreneurial thinking. Thus, students acquire strategy development skills for establishing a new business and competencies in creating competitive advantage by conducting innovative projects in existing businesses.

The curriculum focuses on core business processes such as effective and efficient use of resources, strategic management, marketing, finance, accounting, human resources, and contemporary management techniques. Students develop not only quantitative skills but also "soft skills" such as effective communication, persuading others, giving feedback, and making informative presentations. Course objectives also include reinforcing teamwork, project management, and leadership skills.

To be admitted to the program, candidates must have graduated from a high school or equivalent institution and obtained a sufficient score in the national university entrance examinations (OSYM). Successfully completing courses totaling 120 ECTS credits during the two-year education period and having a weighted grade point average of at least 60 out of 100 are among the graduation requirements. Throughout this process, students are prepared for the dynamic environment of the business world with analytical thinking, problem-solving, and being a reliable partner in teamwork skills.

Graduates who successfully complete the program can work at various management levels in marketing, sales, accounting, finance, auditing, and human resources in both the public and private sectors, or they can establish their own businesses utilizing their entrepreneurial qualities. Additionally, students who succeed in the Vertical Transfer Examination have the opportunity to transfer to related bachelor's degree programs such as Business Administration, Economics and Finance, Finance and Banking, Labor Economics, and Industrial Relations.

The grading and assessment system is defined in detail in the course syllabi within the framework of the Mersin University Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations.
