Program Teaching Aims and Objectives

Program Objective: The Medical Imaging Program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to perform diagnostic and therapeutic imaging using medical imaging devices in public and private healthcare institutions. Graduates work as "Medical Imaging Technicians" in these institutions.

Program Goals:

1. To teach students the fundamental knowledge and principles of medical imaging techniques.

2. To equip students with the skills to use medical imaging devices and optimize image quality.

3. To familiarize students with the use of radiation protection equipment, dose monitoring, and the importance of professional ethics for patient and public health.

4. To equip students with the skills to prepare patients, perform correct positioning, and establish effective coordination with healthcare professionals during the imaging process.

*In line with Mersin University's 2023-2027 Strategic Goals, and taking into account the opinions of internal and external stakeholders, the aims and objectives of the Medical Imaging Techniques (IKMEP) Program were updated with the Board of Directors' Decision No. 5/16 dated 26/01/2026.
