Operation Room Services

The Operating Room Services Program, established in the 2004-2005 academic year within the Mersin University School of Health Services, offers two-year associate degree-level vocational training. The program aims to train qualified auxiliary healthcare personnel who can ensure the preparation, organization, and safe use of all surgical instruments and materials used in operating rooms; who can directly participate in surgical teams during surgery; who can assist surgeons; and who are required to perform these duties.

Our mission is to train qualified healthcare professionals who are knowledgeable about surgical technologies, committed to ethical values, possess high professional knowledge and skills, and prioritize patient safety and sterilization principles. Our vision is to be a nationally recognized program in surgical healthcare, a pioneer in practical training, and an exemplary training program that trains the well-equipped and innovative operating room technicians needed by the healthcare industry.

Our primary objectives are as follows:

· To equip students with the skills to identify, prepare, and effectively use all surgical instruments and materials used in operating rooms.

· To develop competency in the preparation and use of equipment during surgical procedures by adapting to modern surgical technologies.

· To provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills regarding sterilization and disinfection principles.

· To cultivate individuals who adhere to professional ethical values, adhere to patient safety rules, are compatible with surgical teamwork, and have a strong sense of responsibility.

Our partners are Mersin University Hospital, Mersin City Training and Research Hospital, and Toros State Hospital, with whom we collaborate to develop students' practical skills and adapt to the field.
