Program Teaching Aims and Objectives

Program Objective: “The Operating Room Services Program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to monitor the operation of operating rooms and equipment in public and private healthcare institutions, maintain sterilization and disinfection principles, and make necessary preparations during surgical procedures. Graduates work as “Operating Room Technicians” in these institutions.”

Program Goals:

1. To teach students about the operating room environment and equipment.

2. To equip students with the skills to prepare the operating room during the surgical process.

3. To enable students to act in accordance with sterilization and disinfection principles in the operating room.

4. To make students understand the importance of ethical principles and patient safety in the surgical process.

*In line with Mersin University's 2023-2027 Strategic Goals, and taking into account the opinions of internal and external stakeholders, the aims and objectives of the Operating Room Services Program were updated with the Board of Directors' Decision No. 5/16 dated 26/01/2026.
