History and General Information
Our Vocational School was established in 2003 and accepted its first students in the 2003-2004 academic year in the Anesthesia, Radiology, Medical Documentation and Secretarial, and Medical Laboratory programs. Since its establishment, the Medical Services and Techniques and Health Care Services departments have been established based on developments in academic structures and sectoral needs. The Medical Services and Techniques Department continues its educational activities through programs in Operating Room Services, Anesthesia, First and Emergency Aid, Medical Documentation and Secretarial, Medical Imaging Techniques, and Medical Laboratory Techniques. The Health Care Services Department actively operates only the Elderly Care program.
In addition to the educational activities carried out by our academic staff at our Vocational School, faculty members from the relevant departments of Mersin University Faculty of Medicine are assigned to teach specialized courses within our programs. Faculty members and instructors from other faculties and schools of our university, as well as units affiliated with the Rectorate, are assigned to teach core courses. This aims to provide a scientific, contemporary, and high-quality education in all programs.
Our students receive their theoretical training at Mersin University's Yenişehir Campus and receive practical training at various public healthcare institutions, including Mersin University Hospital, Mersin City Training and Research Hospital, and Toros State Hospital. Furthermore, through protocols signed between our university and private nursing homes and elderly care centers, students in these programs continue their practical training at these institutions.
Our students receive intensive theoretical and practical training during their two-year associate degree program. Interim professional practical training, conducted during the first and second year, develops our students' field skills and contributes to their employment as highly qualified individuals in the public and private healthcare sectors after graduation.
Our academic staff consists of 15 academic staff, including 2 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 7 Assistant Professors, and 3 Instructors. Our administrative staff consists of 5 staff members.
