Infrastructure Facilities

University campuses feature indoor and outdoor sports facilities, an amphitheater, an indoor swimming pool, conference halls, concert halls, and exhibition areas for social, cultural, artistic, and sporting activities open to everyone, especially our students and staff, subject to conditions of use. Scientific, cultural, social, artistic, and sporting societies, established to serve students' interests, encourage them to pursue new pursuits, and contribute to their academic development, play a significant role. The establishment and operation of these societies are governed by the "Mersin University Student Societies Establishment and Operation Guidelines" (See Evidence File: Student Societies Establishment and Operation Guidelines). The Department of Health, Culture, and Sports meets the in-kind and cash requests of the societies for their activities, within the University's means. In 2024, 103 student societies organized 330 events across various categories. This represents a 94% increase in the number of events compared to the previous year. As of 2024, the total number of members in these societies reached 14,501. The fact that student members represent 33% of the total student body demonstrates significant student participation in social, cultural, and sporting activities.

Our university campus features a 5,000-seat stadium, serving not only university staff and students but also the people of Mersin. The stadium includes an Olympic-sized football field, a tartan-surface athletics track, an artistic gymnastics hall under the stands, a table tennis hall under the stands, a sand-surface beach volleyball court, and a sports center and fitness center for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The Vadi Sports Facilities area includes six clay tennis courts, one artificial turf pitch, and one four-lane synthetic basketball court. The Rectorate Physical Education and Sports Facilities area includes two concrete tennis courts, one dance and gymnastics hall, one tarpaulin sports hall, two concrete basketball courts, and one concrete volleyball court. Indoor Sports Hall No. 2 includes a 500-seat indoor sports hall (compliant with national standards), a student fitness center, and a staff fitness center. The Indoor Swimming Pool area includes a 25-meter, 2.5-meter-deep semi-Olympic indoor swimming pool with a usable area of 5,500 m², and a 20-meter, 1.5-meter-deep animation pool.
