Infrastructure Facilities
**In the university campuses, there are both indoor and outdoor sports areas, an amphitheater, an indoor swimming pool, conference halls, concert halls, and exhibition spaces that are open to everyone—primarily our students and staff—depending on usage conditions, for social, cultural, artistic, and sports activities. Student clubs established for scientific, cultural, social, artistic, and sports purposes play an important role in enabling students to make use of their extracurricular time according to their interests, directing them toward new areas of interest, and contributing to their academic development. The establishment and operation of these clubs are carried out in accordance with the “Mersin University Directive on the Establishment and Operation of Student Clubs.” In-kind and cash requests needed for club activities are met by the Health, Culture and Sports Department within the means of the University. In 2024, a total of 330 activities in various categories were organized by 103 student clubs. Compared to the previous year, this represents a 94% increase in the number of events. As of 2024, the total number of club members is 14,501. The fact that the ratio of students who are members of student clubs to the total number of students has reached 33% indicates that students actively participate in social, cultural, and sports activities.
Within our University campus, there is also a stadium with a capacity of 5,000 spectators, serving not only university staff and students but also the public of Mersin. The stadium features a football field built to Olympic standards, a tartan-surfaced athletics track, an artistic gymnastics hall located beneath the stands, a table tennis hall beneath the stands, a sand-surfaced beach volleyball court, a sports center for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and a fitness hall. In the Valley Sports Facilities area, there are six clay tennis courts, one artificial turf football field, and a four-lane synthetic basketball court. In the Rectorate Physical Education and Sports Facilities area, there are two concrete tennis courts, a dance and gymnastics hall, a covered sports hall, two concrete basketball courts, and one concrete volleyball court. In the No. 2 Indoor Sports Hall area, there is an indoor sports hall with a capacity of 500 spectators (meeting national standards), one student fitness hall, and one fitness hall for staff. In the Indoor Swimming Pool area, there is a semi-Olympic indoor swimming pool measuring 25 meters in length and 2.5 meters in depth, with a total usage area of 5,500 m², as well as a 20-meter-long, 1.5-meter-deep recreation pool. In the Yenişehir campus, there is also a concrete basketball/volleyball court. (See Evidence File: SKSDB Facility and Sports Area Usage Information and MEU Student Handbook.)
