International Collaborations

Our faculty’s international relations go beyond student exchange and include graduate education, research and institutional collaborations. This page presents examples of these collaborations together with the institutional level at which they are carried out.

Graduate Education: ORPHEUS Membership

Since January 2025, the Mersin University Institute of Health Sciences has been a member of ORPHEUS (Organisation for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System). The institute was represented at the ORPHEUS 2025 conference held in Dubrovnik on 10-12 April 2025 and continues its preparations for the ORPHEUS label application. This membership is an institute-level collaboration aimed at the quality of doctoral education in health sciences, to which our faculty’s departments also contribute. International Research Collaborations

Dr. Maria Veldhuizen of Yale School of Medicine began working as a visiting researcher in our Department of Anatomy in 2019. Project no. 118C299, "Rescue Food Reward in Obesity with Neuro-modulation of Gut-brain Signals", supported under the TÜBİTAK 2232 International Outstanding Researchers Programme, started in November 2019 for three years and offered TÜBİTAK BİDEB scholarships to doctoral students. Student Exchange Networks

Our medical students can apply for clinical and research exchanges in the IFMSA network through the TurkMSIC Mersin Local Committee. For details, see our Internship Opportunities Abroad page.

Historical Protocols

Mersin University’s 2008 Activity Report lists, among the university’s international cooperation agreements, protocols between our faculty and the Tashkent Medical Faculty (Republic of Uzbekistan) and the State Medical Faculty of the Republic of Kazakhstan. These protocols are archival records; as their current validity has not been confirmed, they are not shown among active agreements. 2008 Activity Report (PDF, in Turkish)
