Program Educational Objectives and Learning Outcomes
The Department of Chemistry aims to enhance students’ academic and research skills, foster ethical awareness and social responsibility, and educate individuals who can engage effectively at national and international levels with a lifelong learning perspective.
The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) are presented below.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEO 1. Graduates pursue postgraduate studies and engage in academic research and teaching.
PEO 2. Graduates continue their professional development after graduation, increasing their knowledge and skills while taking responsibility within their institutions and organizations, guided by ethical principles and environmental awareness.
PEO 3. Graduates utilize their technical knowledge and skills to work in public institutions, industry, and private organizations, or establish their own businesses as entrepreneurs contributing to the workforce.
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
PLO 1. Possess sufficient theoretical knowledge in the fundamental areas of chemistry (analytical, organic, inorganic, physical, and biochemistry).
PLO 2. Have the ability to use laboratory techniques effectively and to collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
PLO 3. Identify, analyze, and propose scientific solutions to chemistry-related problems.
PLO 4. Gain the ability to conduct scientific research, review literature, formulate hypotheses, and draw conclusions.
PLO 5. Use modern instruments, equipment, and software commonly employed in the field of chemistry effectively.
PLO 6. Take an active role in both disciplinary and interdisciplinary teamwork and possess effective written and oral communication skills.
PLO 7. Act in accordance with scientific and professional ethical values.
PLO 8. Recognize the importance of continuous development and lifelong learning, and know how to access and evaluate information independently.
PLO 9. Evaluate the social impacts of scientific knowledge and technology and develop a sense of social responsibility.
PLO 10. Demonstrate environmental awareness and occupational health and safety consciousness when working with chemical substances.
PLO 11. Have sufficient knowledge of English to follow the scientific literature in the field.
PLO 12. Develop the ability to apply chemical knowledge within the framework of entrepreneurship and innovation.
